Commons diet mistakes can make the difference of reaching your goal or not. If you have hit a plateau or you lose weight and put it straight back on, you could be falling into the following diets traps.
Skipping Breakfast
Many people skip breakfast when dieting, because it is a simple way to cut calories out of your daily intake. However, it is one of the biggest traps people fall into. Firstly, it starts your metabolism for the day. The fact is that if you skip breakfast your metabolism isn’t as effective at digesting foods during the day. Further, not eating in the morning leads to hunger during the day, leading to increased risk of snacking during the day.
Following Crash Diets
Crash diets and fad diets don’t work long term. You may lose weight fast, however you will put the weight back straight back on when you resume your day to day eating habits. Stop using crash diets.
Losing track of your snacks
You may track your calories of your main meals, however what about your mid meals and snacks. After portion control, this is the second biggest mistake people make. Plans the snacks you eat and ensure that are portion controlled and calorie controlled.
Not snacking at all
This can be just as detrimental as not tracking your calories with snacks. When you have sensible snacks you are far more likely to control your hunger and lose weight. High protein snacks also keep your metabolism at optimum levels.
Not drinking enough water
Water is essential for burning calories. If you are dehydrated your metabolism gets sluggish, in turn reducing the effectiveness of diets. Drink at least eight glasses of water per day.
Weighing yourself everyday
Weighing in weekly is far more beneficial. Daily weigh-ins causes frustration.
